I was down in Charlottesville, Va visiting the good brothers of Omega Psi Phi and one of my guys asked me “What’s the deal with y’all and Joell Ortiz” shout out to Ironman
I read the post on his blog when it dropped but I didn’t realize Miss Info and Grand Good and others re-posted it.
I am not going to get into a tit for tat with his argument as anyone who knows me (us) know that Joell’s claims are as a accurate as a McCain attack ad.
Hip-Hop is a complex animal with many faces. A swagger face, a southern face, a gangster face, a bourgie face, an LA face, a Brooklyn face and so on. As much as we want to work together every event and every face is not for everyone. We play our role and do our part. The reality is that we are in the minority.
For every Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival there are 5 summer jams, 3 Power 105 events, 2 Glow In The Dark Tours, and 3 Jay Z mega tours.
The reality is that some fans and some artists will not like what we do regardless of the choices we make. Anyone who has been to the Festival will realize that certain artists just don’t fit.
I wish all artists good luck in these trying times and I hope you and we all find our audience.
