American rap artist and actor Will Smith and his wife, the actress Jada Pinkett Smith, will co-host this year's Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, organizers said Wednesday.
The Dec. 11 show — a day after the award ceremony — will feature performances by Wyclef Jean, Toby Keith, Donna Summer, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Amadou & Mariam, a blues and jazz duet from Mali.
"The opportunity to recognize the laureate's contributions to the world peace movement will be an awe-inspiring experience," the Smiths said in a joint statement. "We are both humbled and honored to take part in the Nobel Peace Prize Concert this year."
The winner of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize is to be announced in Oslo on Oct. 9. The award is always handed out Dec. 10, the anniversary of prize founder Alfred Nobel's death in 1896.

It's easy to give Dell a hard time. Earlier in this decade the company built on cranking out desktop computers for American businesses decided to dive into consumer electronics. That move didn't work out. Yet while Dell had its share of consumer clunkers--anyone remember the DJ Ditty?--the company is still entrenched in corporate America.
In many ways Dell ( DELL - news - people ) is now the mirror image of rival Apple ( AAPL - news - people ). That's because Apple remains as clueless about big business as Dell is about digital music players.
Just look at the numbers. Dell sells 32% of the computers used by companies with more than 500 employees, according to IDC. While HP holds the PC sales crown, it trails in that category, with 25% of the market, followed by Lenovo ( LNVGY.PK - news - people ), Acer and Toshiba ( TOSBF.PK - news - people ).
While Apple has pushed the story that it is gaining ground in corporate America, it still doesn't rate a blip on the radar screen.
If you want to know why, compare and contrast Dell's latest laptop, the Latitude Z, with the MacBook Air.
The $1,500 MacBook Air, introduced early last year, remains a charmer, thanks to a tapered aluminum case that makes the three-pound, 0.76-inch thick machine look as if it could levitate above the desktop. Apple had the discipline to remove things laptop aficionados really don't need.

Bailout cop Neil Barofsky is on the lookout for scammers and thieves.
The special inspector general will soon release results ofan audit of the money given to the nine largest banks, with a focus on the Bank of America-Merrill Lynch merger. He's also involved in a criminal investigation into that merger.
In addition, Barofsky is investigating a now-defunct Alabama bank that applied for but never received bailout funds under the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
In all, he has 35 ongoing criminal and civil investigations underway.
But if you measure an investigator's success by notches in his gunbelt, Barofsky has a ways to go. His biggest win came in August, when he helped put behind bars for 10 years an investment manager who conned investors into buying "TARP-backed securities."
Barofsky is not worried about counting wins. His team is going after complex cases like securities and accounting fraud, even if indictments are years away.
"The cases most important to our mission are those where we investigate those who try to steal money from Treasury," Barofsky said in an interview with CNNMoney.com. "But that means they're complex and take awhile."
And he has time for in-depth investigations. His office, which was established by the 2008 bailout law, exists as long as the Treasury Department still owns assets paid with TARP dollars. Even as new funding winds down next year, some TARP programs are expected to own assets for another 8 to 10 years.
In March of this year Yusef Ramelize took a week out of his life to live on the streets on New York City as a homeless person. This sacrifice was made in a bold attempt to raise money and awareness for homelessness.
From homelessforoneweek
I plan to do this every year until I feel that the homelessness problem has gotten the attention it deserves. My goal is to raise money and awareness about homelessness through video blogs and interviews.
Many of us have become numb to the trials of homelessness; as someone with a home-grateful for my home-I believe it's important to bring back our sensitivity about this important issue that truly can happen to any one of us at any time. For most, being homeless is not a choice. 2007 was the worst year for family homelessness in modern history, with more than 9,000 families in shelters each night and I'm sure the numbers are going to be much worse in 2008.
The money raised will be donated to different homeless organizations, shelters or food banks every year. 100% of all the money collected will be donated. This year the money will go to the Coalition for the Homeless. Their contact information and website link are listed under "This year's pick"
I am not an expert on the statistics of homelessness. But I know it's a serious problem. The New York City Department of Homeless Services provides a daily census of homeless individuals in the city. On Thanksgiving night, while many of us were feasting with friends and family, over 36,000 people remained without a home and 16,000 are children.
During my 2009 homeless venture I spent mornings, afternoons, evenings, and nights in the Union Square and Penn Station area. I talked to homeless individuals, collected their stories, and blogged about everything I learned. I uploaded my clips to YouTube and I will continue to blog about all my 2009 homeless-for-one-week experiences through May 1st.

Obama's agenda ranges from dealing with Iran's nuclear ambitions to traveling to Copenhagen to pitch Chicago for the 2016 Olympics -- a trip the president said two weeks ago he could not take because he was working on health care.
"Health care reform has been his No. 1 priority issue here domestically. He wanted to make sure that if he went, that it wouldn't have an adverse impact on that, so he's going for just a day," said senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.
And health care will still be at the top of the list when the president gets back. This fall, his priorities are health care and financial reform, one Capitol Hill source said.
But health care reform will require a hands-on approach. The Senate Democratic leadership is looking for presidential guidance in creating one bill out of two very different ones -- all the while holding onto enough votes to pass it.
And as for Obama's other goal, the administration sent financial reform legislation to the Hill and on both sides, committee work has begun, but it's a long way from cooked.
A number of Capitol Hill players say privately that anything beyond health care and financial regulation would be a miracle this year.

Unevenness is such a staple of Saturday Night Live -- and, in fact, always has been, even during the good years -- that it can't possibly be considered news that last night's season premiere had long stretches where the material was painfully unfunny.
But on last night's show, hosted by actress Megan Fox, there was hardly anything that was funny, and what was unfunny was extra-unfunny.
And as if that weren't enough, one of the new cast members accidentally dropped one of George Carlin's seven dirty words.
Anatomy of a disaster, after the jump...
The biggest headline will be that slip-up from new featured player Jenny Slate (who, remember, was brought in as part of the switching out of female cast members we recently discussed). She was participating in a dumb sketch called "Biker Chick Chat," in which the main joke was that all the leather-clad women on it said "frickin'" several times per sentence.
In other words, on her first night of live television in her new job, Slate was asked to go out and barely not swear, over and over and over again. This is what you might call "tempting fate," and they paid the price when Slate clearly and unequivocally said, instead of "frickin'," the other thing. And then, she made a horrified, pained, miserable face, puffing out her cheeks as if perhaps the word was still in her mouth and if she created a tight seal, it wouldn't actually go out live to millions of people.
Too late.
