---------
Brooklyn Bodega is a complicated animal. Creators of the BHF. Top notch blogazine (blog meets magazine). Cultural programmers. Hip-Hop Advocacy Group.
The Bodega was founded in 2006 by Wes Jackson as the online home of the BHF. Under the guidance of the Bodega's initial creative director and administrator, James Blagden and Alma Geddy-Romero, the Bodega grew into one of the most respected online destinations in the Hip-Hop community.
Editorially, the Bodega strives to add a more academic voice to the world of Hip-Hop journalism. We delve deep into issues facing the Hip-Hop community. From music business to politics to technology we offer a professional and intellectual voice.

Management Team
Wes Jackson
President/Brooklyn Bodega and Executive Director/BHF
Wes has over 15 years experience as an entrepreneur and innovator in the music business. His career began producing concerts for Nas, The Roots, The Dave Matthews Band and De La Soul. He then went on to start his own promotions company, Seven Heads Promotions. Seven Heads was instrumental in launching the careers of Mos Def, Talib Kweli and others.
Under Wes’ leadership Seven Heads then expanded into a record label and management company. The promotions company was then spun into The Room Service Group (RSG), one of the leaders in digital marketing. RSG has worked with Def Jam, Capitol, Warner Bros., Interscope, Vivendi, Converse and more.
In addition to his successful business ventures Wes also serves as a lecturer at the City University of New York (CUNY) and has consulted for Jazz At Lincoln Center and VH1 Hip-Hop Honors.
Wes' entrepreneurial spirit endures as he continues to grow the BHF into a world class event. Also on deck is the launch of the new digital label, Savannah Boogie Music & Song.
Ebonie Jackson
General Manager/Brooklyn Bodega and Director of Production/BHF
Ebonie handles the nuts and bolts of the Bodega and the Festival. She is a Columbia MBA grad with over 10 years of experience in corporate America. Ebonie spent her early career at JP Morgan Chase where she rose to the position of Vice President. She left corporate America to start a family and build the family business.
Ebonie teaches at City University of New York - York College where she teaches several courses and helps run the SEEK program (Ebonie actually developed the course that Wes teaches at York). She volunteers with several community organizations including UNCF.
Many do not realize that Wes and Ebonie are a true team and the Bodega is a real family business. The two native New Yorkers met in college at The University of Virginia and have been married for 9 years. They have and have two beautiful children. As their parents say "A kid from the Bronx and a girl from Queens went all the way down to Virginia to meet."
