Our ol’ buddy Guillermo is performing this weekend at none other than the WORLD FAMOUS APOLLO THEATER… As part of the uptown landmark’s Salon Series, Guillermo will be bringing to the lucky audience his unique sonic-vision… and his f–king crazily dope beat machines. This from the Apollo site:

Guillermo E. Brown’s Shuffle Mode—an experimental, beat-based, electronic, jazzy, soulful, label-free, solo multimedia work tracing one man’s pathway to music through a diversity of influences. From watching his father “perform” as an Episcopal priest to the varied spheres of musical activity surrounding his mother’s career as an ethnomusicologist, to his ancestry as a Caribbean in Panama and as a Panamanian Caribbean in Brooklyn, and as a self-styled seeker of the expansive rhythms that bridge the artificial boundaries created by the commercialization of music, Brown has created a socio-political statement that accepts all dimensions of music as valid while meditating on such questions as “Why does the music comes out the way it does? Is authenticity a relevant musical concept today? Why do these genre boundaries exist?”

Tickets are only $15 - support real dudes, support new sounds, get on the A train! More on the event, and a link to Guillermo’s myspace page… HERE!
